Pioneering success in cyber fraud litigation

In a significant legal development, the Hon’ble Adjudicating Officer, Department of Science and Technology, Government of Madhya Pradesh granted remedy in a case of mass cyber fraud.

The case pertains to a fraudulent cyber transaction that took place in 2017. The case pertains to issuance of a Duplicate SIM on ground of fraudulent impersonation which further encouraged humongous unauthorized transactions from a leading engineering firm’s bank accounts causing huge loss to the partners of the firm.

In its decision, the Office of the Adjudicating Officer, took into account the negligent behaviour of the service provider and poor due diligence of the accused Bank. The office ardently granted compensation to the complainant for all the losses suffered by him including the mental agony inflicted upon him.
