Supreme Court Grants Stay on Rs. 121 Crore Penalty in Major Environmental Case

In a notable legal development, our office garnered stay on the gigantic penalty of Rs.121 crores along with personal prosecution on the Commissioner of a Government Corporation from the Hon’ble Supreme Court. The case pertains to the penalty levied on the Corporation by the National Green Tribunal (CZB) on grounds of environmental degradation in the city of Bhopal especially focusing on the lakes in and around the city namely Siddique Hasan Khan Talab, Motia Talab and Bagmunshi Talab.

The once in a blue moon stay granted by the Apex Court was a result of immense dedication and hard work portrayed by our team led by Mr. Vivek Choudhary who with great vigor represented the Corporation overcoming the procedural challenges of the case and bought relief.

Alongside this achievement, our team has also been representing the Corporation in 52 cases filed by encroachers before the Hon’ble High Court of Madhya Pradesh, seeking to halt their removal from encroached areas. Through our strategic legal work, 17 of these cases were voluntarily withdrawn by the petitioners, bringing the Corporation one step closer to resolving long-standing encroachment issues.

This success highlights our office's proficiency in handling diverse legal challenges, from environmental litigation to regulatory disputes, demonstrating our dedication to protecting our clients' interests.
